CASA Gala & Benefit Auction Raises over $170,000

LANCASTER, PA (September 16th, 2019) – Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Lancaster County held their annual Heroes Gala and Benefit Auction Saturday, September 7th at the Marriott Penn Square. This year’s theme, The Roaring Twenties, Casino Night, was well-received with over 500 guests raising over $170,000. “Honestly, we are overwhelmed by the generosity of our community,” stated Executive Director, Jessica Laspino. “We’re thankful for all of our sponsors, donors, and attendees, and of course, the gala planning committee who brought the roaring twenties to life.”

During the evening, both P&D Business Systems and Lancaster County Motors Subaru were recognized with the “Hero in the Life of a Child” award for their support of CASA. P&D Business Systems has provided CASA with exceptional IT support for nearly ten years providing many of their services in-kind. LCM Subaru holds an annual Share the Love event and, in addition to funds raised, promotes CASA’s mission through radio and TV spots. CASA Volunteer Advocate Paula Porter was named the Clark Family Foundation Volunteer of the Year for her work on behalf of abused and neglected children. Paula is currently advocating for six youth in five different homes. Paula’s communication abilities are exceptional allowing her to connect with and amplify the voices of her CASA youths.

“I really feel the success of this event highlights the one of the greatest strengths of our community, people coming together to support those who are vulnerable. There are no community members more vulnerable than children who have suffered abuse and neglect,” added Mrs. Laspino.
